Practically conceived in Startup culture, Herwig has been working for startups since he first worked for Clickable Inc., at the age of 14. Since then, he has worked for three other startups, including Y-Combinator backed startup Glider.io. Since joining The Launch Pad (career center for entrepreneurs at the University of Miami) Herwig has been teaching lean startup methodology to hundreds of student entrepreneurs. Herwig can always be found enthusiastically talking about the wonders of crowdfunding and has a mission to make startup investing fun, simple, & accessible for everyone.
Having grown up in and gone to college in Miami, Adrian has been involved in South Florida’s growing startup culture since its inception. He founded his first company shortly after graduating with his BBA, and while pursuing his JD and MBA, he became involved with the Launch Pad at UM as both a client and as a consultant. He’s seen firsthand the difficulty entrepreneurs have had getting funding despite having great and valuable ideas. He believes crowd funding has the potential to create a culture shift from a consumer-driven economy to an investor-driven one, allowing the market to not just pick winners and losers, but also profit from its choices to the benefit of everyone.
With a Ph.D. in science that taught him the value of data driven decision making, William spent over a decade performing cutting edge research, publishing in some of the world’s most prestigious journals. He then dove into business and obtained an MBA, concentrating in finance and marketing. In 2010 he began leading the consulting operations at The Launch Pad, overseeing its staff and advising several hundred startups, many of which entered incubators, accelerators, and raised angel investment and venture capital. William was actively involved in scaling The Launch Pad from 1 to 15 universities nationwide, consulting on launch, operations, human resources, and technology solutions for what has become a national network of entrepreneurship support centers.
A serial entrepreneur and noted social media expert, Peter has successfully launched several tech startups which have engaged millions of users and have been featured on news outlets including BBC News, the Washington Post, USA Today, the Miami Herald, TechCrunch, and Mashable, among others. Both Pikchur and Cloudshopper have been noted for their innovative approaches to solving common pain points in daily life. Peter earned an Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Masters in Electrical Engineering and has focused the better part of the last decade developing, scaling and consulting on social media, mobile and application development. Believing that being hands on and understanding all aspects of starting of a business is important to success, Peter has studied and put to practice the latest in programing, scaling, and financial molding approaches.
Robert Holtz is an accomplished expert in high technology and corporate strategy. He has advised some of the world’s leading companies including Amazon.com, Apple Inc., Autodesk, Coca-Cola, First Data, Hilton Hotels, IBM, Microsoft, SONY, and Disney in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, intellectual property, corporate initiatives, and branded media. Holtz advises senior management, assisting in key deals and relationships. He has been instrumental in advancing the company’s brand strategy, technical strategy, and business strategy with his expert advice and creative thinking.
